Using the 9-Volt Battery Tester

Welcome back to our DIY Miniature Series. Today we are talking about how to test your 12-volt lighting for your miniature projects.

Testing your lights ahead of time saves you from frustration later. A quick
check now means no surprises when everything is in place. We'll walk you
through the simple steps to verify each light is functioning properly before
you commit to installation.

There is nothing worse than installing a light fixture in your dollhouse or room box only to find that it doesn't work.

Our 9-volt tester with hooked lead clips takes the guesswork out of the process. Attach it to a 9-volt battery and test your light fixtures before you install them—saving you time, frustration, and the hassle of removing fixtures that don't light up.

How to use the tester:
Press the button on the hook assembly and a small hooked lead clip extends from the end. Attach that hook to one wire, then repeat for the other hook. If the bulb is good, it will light up. The light won't be as bright as when installed in your dollhouse because of the lower voltage. Do not use this to test 3-volt lights as you might burn them out.

For LED lights, attach the red assembly to the red wire and the black assembly to the black wire.

Use code TESTER10 to receive 10% off your purchase of the 9-volt tester. Valid through August 12, 2026.

Happy decorating!
